The point of the Big Player concept is to avoid barring by usinga player that always has the advantage and therefore always bets high insteadof heavily varying bets. But it is not foolproof. The casino is going to watchsomeone betting large and making money. It is not that much work to discoverthat he keeps showing up at tables with high counts. So, a problem with the BigPlayer (BP) concept is that the highly trained BP can be burned.
A solution is to hire expendable BPs. That is, instead ofthe BP being the heart of the team, multiple BPs are hired for short terms.These are called gorillas. Since gorillas take signals from the spotters, theydo not need to count and therefore can be trained more quickly.
However, they do have to be trained to know when to takesignals for some playing decisions. It is not practical to take signals forevery play. This would be far too obvious. Instead, the gorilla learns BasicStrategy and a short list of hands where a signal is required before making a playingdecision. These are the hands with indexes. The spotter will signal the actionsaccording to the count for these hands.
Some years ago, I included an option in the Casino VéritéBlackjack Flashcard drills to aid in the training of gorillas. At first theoption was hidden and could only be invoked through an undocumented keysequence, as the feature was implemented for a team. In Casino Vérité V5it was made a public option.
In Gorilla Mode, a new Wait button is displayed in additionto the Hit, Stand, Double, Split and Surrender buttons. If the displayed handhas an index, Wait is the correct response. Click Wait and you will be told howto play. Then play according to the signal. In this manner, gorillas can bemore quickly trained and tested.
Opponents
Party Poker used to completely dominate the online poker world. It had the most player traffic of any other 3 rooms combined. But due to bad press about rigging their games, and now with the US poker legislature, they’ve given up on their primary market. When they kicked the US players out, most of their revenue and fish went with it; there are still beatable opponents to be found, and they’re still one of the largest poker rooms, but nothing like they used to be.

Party Poker offers the big name games that everyone loves to play: Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Low, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi/Low. They also have the no-limit and pot-limit games for all of these. They used to be extremely well-populated, but that’s changed. They took a massive hit when they refused to cater to players from the United States, since they basically had the market cornered. They still have games running at most times, but again, not like they used to – and you’ll likely have some difficulties if you’re a 7 Card Stud fan, as the traffic there has slowed to a relative crawl.

Party Poker offers some terrific signup and deposit bonuses, as well as having some of the largest jackpot games around. Customer Support
There are few good things to say about Party Poker’s customer support. Their deposits and withdrawals are still fast and easy, which is certainly the most important thing, but their customer support representatives are definitely not up to par. One-line responses to complicated issues, plus it can now take quite awhile to hear from them. This is probably also a reflection of the hit to their revenue, but even so, it’s an annoying issue.
