Friday Night, in Mitchell SD at the Back 40 Taphouse Bar, 3 tables competed in a free-roll for a chance to be a part of the South Dakota State Championship. Tyler Oberbroekling who hasn't played in the league in 3 years found himself looking for a place to spend the night because he would be joining the field of players trying to find their golden ticket to Vegas.
55 Players braved the blizzard to play in the South Dakota State Championship on October 12, 2019. The top 3 players received a travel voucher, and twelve players earned the title of State Champion, receiving a trophy and a guaranteed seat at nationals to the King Slayer Championship Free-roll, with $50,000 in prizes, January 10-12, 2020 in Las Vegas. 5 alternates will also be invited to Las Vegas, where they will have several opportunities to qualify for the King Slayer Championship! Congratulations to Lee Kathol from Mojo’s in Yankton the 13th qualifier, earning his seat in the 2nd chance tournament.
